Thanks to multibillion-dollar contracts, it is building the strongest army since the Cold War, already surpassing Germany and France in terms of both troop numbers and equipment. But this strength comes at a price that Warsaw will be paying for decades.

Although the Visegrád countries do not possess significant deposits of rare earth elements, they are increasingly looking for ways to strengthen their position in the European critical raw materials supply chain. The administrations of Czechia, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary rely heavily on American technologies – from operating systems and cloud services to artificial intelligence tools. Although experts warn of the risks associated with concentrating data outside Europe, the countries in the region are not planning a rapid shift away from American providers.
